Sasha

This is Sasha, one of our two Siamese blue point kitties. Daisy and Sasha are sisters. She is the best mouser and the shyest of our cats. She likes to chase a string around. Sasha wants you to feed her cream 800 times a day and will meow at you until she gets her way. She probably won't come to you if you see her around the park, but she is pretty to look at :)

THE BIRD KINGDOM

I was browsing the websites of some of our tourism partners and I came upon the Bird Kingdom website. They have really great deals on admission during the winter months and it's a great place to visit with the kids when you come to Niagara Falls. We sell discount tickets to this Niagara Falls attraction at our front desk. For more information check out : http://birdkingdom.ca/

ABOUT BIRD KINGDOM:

Q. What can I expect at Bird Kingdom?
A. You can expect to see many, many free flying birds, making their homes in our natural environments. Many of these birds you can see eating, bathing, wrestling within a few feet of you. You can also have more interactive experiences where you feed the birds, have birds land on you or have a giant Macaw sit on your arm!

Q. Is there more than just birds at Bird Kingdom?
A. Yes, there are also other amazing creatures from the tropical parts of the world. We have saltwater fish, snakes, bats, spiders, anoles and skinks (lizards) and a bunch of other neat creatures.

Q. How long should we plan being at Bird Kingdom?
A. You should plan at least an hour to an hour and a half. That will allow you time to see most of the exhibits, stop to feed the Lorikeets, experience one of our Bird or Reptile Encounters and maybe take in a show.

Q. Isn't it hot in your tropical rainforest environment?
A. The temperature inside the Aviary is kept at a very comfortable 76 degree's (28 degrees Celcius) with normal humidity year round.

Why Camping?

I found a great little article on WHY CAMPING? You can read it here: http://www.findmeahobby.com/adventure/camping.html

Even though we are not located in the "woods" there are PLENTY of GREAT hiking trails and woodsy areas just minutes from us. Here is a website where you can find out more information about a great trail in the area: http://brucetrail.org/

Our informative staff can give you information on the best places to get on the trail and other shorter trails in the area.

Oliver

This is Oliver, my baby. He is an 8 year old Himalayan Seal point. Most of the time, if you look above the store, you will find him gazing out the window just observing all the activity below. He has been known to wander into the store and office for some attention so you may catch a glimpse! We adopted Oliver a year ago when his previous owner had to move to a nursing home. All of our cats are "used" or more politically correct: "previously enjoyed."
(P.S. He does have eyes! I can never get a picture with them open because of the flash :)

Just Because...

This is Daisy. She is one of our three cats (two Siamese sisters and a male Himalayan seal point). You might see her around the office when you visit. She likes to be let out of the house and then sits by the office/store door begging customers to let her back in with this really sad face as if we were neglecting her (pssshhh...sure!). Oh, and she does this about 15 times a day! She is the most "out-going" of the three.

She's also very sweet and loves curling up on my lap while I am trying to work :)

On July 5 Campark had special guests from Big Kid Entertainment put on a special show for our campers: Jack about the Beanstalk…an original spin on a classic fairytale!

20 years have passed. Jack and Jill teach their daughter about truth telling and righting a wrong. The Giant’s Golden Hen is returned. A Singing Bean Man and very special beanstalk highlight a story of responsibility and character development.

Gas Saving Tips for Camping

Unless you have been living under a rock, you will know that gas prices are soaring and now, more than ever, is the best time to put those fuel saving tips to good use. Below, I have compiled a few common, but none the less effective, tips for you to use to keep costs down.
  • Check those tires! Poorly aligned and under inflated tires will surely waste gas by making your engine work harder to get from point A to point B.

  • Keep your vehicle serviced. Get your oil changed and filters cleaned/replaced. Take your car to the dealership to have a diagnostic test done, and then take the results to your local mechanic where they will most likely be able to do the work for much cheaper.

  • Add a fuel additive to your gas tank that will help keep the fuel injectors clean.

  • For long trips (such as those to Campark Resorts :) use an online mapping service or a GPS system to map out your trip, they usually pick the shortest and fastest route to your destination, avoiding wrong turns and lengthy off-route detours.

  • Stick to the speed limit. Speeding can decrease your gas mileage by up to 15%

  • Keep your windows closed while driving at highway speeds, this avoids air drag.

  • Don't accelerate too fast and avoid idling!
